ChatGPT Now Builds A Calculator Just To Tell You It Is Still Bad At Maths

GPT-6 can render charts, forms and buttons inside the chat. The buttons do not solve your life.

OpenAI has launched GPT-6, and the headline feature is "Intelligent UI": the chatbot can now conjure charts, forms and calculators right inside the conversation. Users report being thrilled for about nine seconds, then asking it to split a restaurant bill and receiving a beautiful, fully interactive wrong answer.

Early testers describe the experience as "having a friend who is brilliant, confident, and has also redesigned your entire kitchen without asking". One tester asked for a simple reminder and got a dashboard, three sliders, and an onboarding wizard for the reminder.

The company's Head of Buttons, Chad Widgetsworth, defended the launch. "A wall of text was oppressing people," he said. "Now the wall of text has a dropdown." He declined to say what the dropdown contains, citing the dropdown.

Power users found that any question can now be answered with a form. "What is love?" returns a form. "Should I quit my job?" returns a form with a mandatory field labelled "feelings". Several people asked for the old chat back, and the model kindly generated them a petition with a submit button that does nothing.

GPT-6 is available today to paying subscribers and to anyone who has ever been told "just ask the AI". Support remains staffed entirely by a chat window which now, devastatingly, offers you a satisfaction survey before you have asked a question.
